Here he's lived through another day
Where the times went it's hard to say
It's time that's never coming back
At the station slows the rolling train
There he'd sit in the pouring rain
The old man still looked the same

But when he'd look up he'd give a friendly smile
and he'd talk of the years gone by.
He'd laughed and he lived and he loved and he cried
while people passed him by
then he died and no one knew his name.

All his years going by so slow
he never had much to show
but a man he was just the same
Spent his time working 9-5
made a living just to stay alive
while everything he knew had past him by

But when he'd look up he'd give a friendly smile
and he'd talk of the years gone by.
He'd laughed and he lived and he loved and he cried
while people passed him by
then he died and no one knew his name.

He left some words to be buried by
He said to live and to never lie
He said only truth can be your friend
And if you hope and you try to be
The one in the mirror that you always see
Then you yourself, you'll be free

But when he'd look up he'd give a friendly smile
and he'd talk of the years gone by.
He'd laughed and he lived and he loved and he cried
while people passed him by
then he died and no one knew his name.
